“The story of the
Universe has been told in many ways by the peoples of Earth, from the earliest
periods of Paleolithic development and the Neolithic village communities to the
classical civilizations that have emerged in the past five thousand years. In all
these various circumstances the story of the Universe has given meaning to life
and to existence itself.
In the modern period
with all our learning and scientific insight we have not yet attained a meaningful approach to universe, and
thus we have a distorted mode of human presence upon the Earth. We are somehow failing in the fundamental
role that we should be fulfilling – the role of enabling the Earth and the
universe entire to reflect on and to celebrate themselves, and the deep
mysteries they bear within them, in a special mode of conscious
self-awareness.”
- The Universe Story (Brain Swimme and Thomas Berry)
Each student considered one of the symbolic days of creation. Each took pictures and created a comic book page.
I have gathered some of them together into a digital comic Book of Genesis
– the latest retelling of the
oldest story of all time, the story of the Universe.
